One of the first mechanical potato diggers (am_2311)
Yvon Michaud of the Ennishone drives one of the oldest one row potato digger pulled by horses. A gas
motor turns the chains enabling it to dig the potatoes without bruising them. Yvon, son of Joseph
Michaud and Léontine Caron, took over after his father. Their farm, lot 54 in Ennishone, had been
entirely cleared by Louis Michaud, Joseph's father. Louis Michaud and Hermine Rioux were married in
1874 at Saint-Jean-de-Dieu and came early to live in Drummond. Photo taken at the end of the 1930's.
Lent by the Michaud family.
