One of the first mechanical potato diggers (am_2311)

Click to enlargeYvon Michaud of the Ennishone drives one of the oldest one row potato digger pulled by horses. A gas motor turns the chains enabling it to dig the potatoes without bruising them. Yvon, son of Joseph Michaud and Léontine Caron, took over after his father. Their farm, lot 54 in Ennishone, had been entirely cleared by Louis Michaud, Joseph's father. Louis Michaud and Hermine Rioux were married in 1874 at Saint-Jean-de-Dieu and came early to live in Drummond. Photo taken at the end of the 1930's. Lent by the Michaud family.
