Double wedding in Drummond (am_2374)

Click to enlargeOn September the 18, 1939, two couples were married in Drummond. To the right, Alfred L'Dé Plourde (1916-2004), son of Ernest Plourde and Léda Rioux, and Annette Thériault (1920-1990), daughter of Jos N. Thériault and Eugénie Leclerc. To the left, Paul X. Morin (1916-2003) and Anna Plourde (1910-1986). For their honeymoon, Pierre Pit Laforest drove them to Trois-Pistoles in his car. Like his father Ernest, Alfred was very skilful with his hands and was a renowned fiddler. He acquired the family land, a milk and agricultural farm and lived there with his wife Annette, the daughter of a farmer in Drummond. They had six children: Bertrand (Carmelle Pinette), Sylvaine (died in childhood), Doreen (Laurent Levesque), Jean-Guy (single), Odette (John Durepos) and Yvon (Patricia Côté). As for Paul X. Morin, son of Xavier Morin and Hermine Jambard, and his wife Anna Plourde, sister of Alfred, they lived on a farm at the beginning of the Ennishone Road. They had three children: Roger (single), Yvon (married to Ghislaine Desjardins) and Huguette (married to Alyre Cyr and then to Hector Morin). Photo taken in 1939. Lent by Jean-Guy Plourde.
