Pierre Ouellette and his ox (am_2097)

Click to enlargePierre was the son of Alfred Ouellet (1863-1927) and Célanire Michaud (18..-1934) from Île Verte, Quebec who came to live in Drummond in 1895. Pierre (1903-1975) took over the family farm in 1927 and married Wilhelmine Ouellette in 1929. They had three daughters: Noëlla, Sara, Yvette. They adopted their niece Annette, Élie's daughter. Pierre married for the second time to Ella Cyr and a third time to Léontine Levesque. Pierre grew grain, hay and potatoes. In 1954 or 1955, his Ayrshire ox won first prize at the Saint-Basile Regional Exhibition. The judge was the agronomist Adrien Levesque. The other exhibitors were Gilles Clavet and Edmond Lavoie of Saint-Basile and Lionel Nadeau of Saint-François. Photo taken in 1954 or 1955. PC5-21, collection CDEM, ShM.
