Trestle Bridge at Davis Mill (am_1026)
The Canadian National railroad linked Edmundston and Moncton and passed through Drummond. A long
steel bridge spanned the Salmon River valley and the Davis Mill village. This trestle bridge, the
second longest in the world (the longest is in Russia), covered a distance of almost one kilometre
and rose to a height of 212 feet (65 metres) in the centre. In 1910 and 1911, many people from
Drummond worked on the construction of the bridge. Photo taken in July of 1920.
