Our beginningsRachel Cyr, Maurice Thériault & Jacques Lemieux met for the first time in January 1990 and started a new amateur astronomy club in New Brunswick. We meet many times that year while Michel Thériault joins us. Astro Club Borealis held it`s first monthly meeting in September of 1990. We still meet every first Friday of every month at CUSLM (UMCE). Our meetings consist of ephemerids, astro new-news, astro talks...A few times a year we go up to the Aster Center in St-Louis-du-Ha-Ha (Qc) to have a peek through their 14in SCT. What`s great about this place is that even if the weather is "fowl", they have a portable planetarium, a rock collection, an earth quake simulator and lecture room... enough to keep us busy for a few hours! We also hold a special meeting, once a year, when we invite a more knowledgeable astronomer to give an astro talk. Till now we have had the honor of having Damien Lemay, Luc Bellavance & Carmel Dubé (from Rimouski), Maurice Leblanc (HAM), Dr. Julien Belley (on his research at CFH) to give talks. Club members also have the option to borrow from our club: 7x35 and 11x80 binoculars, books on astronomy, slides...on a one-month basis. Our club logo: We can see the telescope; the background lines represent the auroras we so often see in our night sky; with Polaris in the upper corner.
